News From Bath - Woolley Developers Allowed To Do Whatever They Want

Row Over Alpaca Farm Plans in today's Bath Chronicle describes what is happening not just in Bath but all over the UK. If planners are not prepared to uphold legislation (five refused planning applications in this case!) then we are giving a licence to all developers to do as they please on our green belt land.

Read the article then go to
www.savewoolleyvalley.co.uk and sign the petition/comment piece.

You can not be serious.

Woolley Valley is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the spineless council are allowing it to be abused.

What is the point of having any planning legislation if the developers can do what ever they want.

In Torquay we have the same problem.

a useless, feckless and as you say spineless council who bend over and run at the meerest hint of legal action. Cowerds

It is said, although far be it from me to comment, that most councils are in bed with local solicitors etc and so they all want everything kept nice and easy for the long game.

Your problem is just part of a bigger game. The council, if they are that bright, will choose which battles to fight but not based on their individual merits. At best you are a pawn in their own personal game of chess.

Have looked at the This Is Bath link and the BANES comment makes no sense. No sense at all. "More tea Alice?"

As I said, a useless, feckless and spineless council

Does anyone from BANES read this?

Sorry but this is simply an insult to all concerned. What is going on? Who? What? Why? How? It must stop.

What is the point of making any planning decisions if they are not enforced. B&NES need to act now - to stop the work and halt this environmental destruction immediately.

Ian Storey said...

I'm appalled to see what is going on. The ineffective 'enforcement' by the planning officer needs to be addressed and urgently. Where are the elected councillors on this?

Alastair MacKichan said...

5 planning applications, 5 refusals and yet the work continues and B&NES do nothing. That the valley is protected by an Article 4 Direction shows clearly the importance of this stretch of Green Belt and AONB. All the more reason for immediate enforcement action to halt the work and restore the valley to its original state.

Absolutely disgraceful. Woolley valley is stunning, is nowhere sacred anymore.

Has anyone actually looked at GOLDEN VALLEY PADDOCKS LIMITED?

From what I have found out I think the following is right..

... they apply for and receive agricultural subsidies from the EU.

... use an "agent" to communicate with the outside world, and are based in a medium sized converted stable building just outside of Tetbury, where there happen to be a total of 62 other businesses registered, including a 24 hour plumbers, and an event planners.

This is not a solicitors or accountants, or registered office site...

So, in the words of the agent for Golden Valley Paddocks, Mr Marc Willis, the intention really IS to build a farmhouse in the Green Belt, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, supposedly protected by Article 4...and to make doubly sure a pack of alpacas can be driven through a loophole in the planning law, ten thousand chickens are being brought in to seal the deal, with no regard for planning permission, the environment and local residents.

It's all about intention - the intentions of those making the laws, and those wanting to skirt round or break them. Bath & North East Somerset have all the proof they need as to the ultimate intentions of Mr Willis and his masters, and unless BANES rises to the challenge of its obligations as Council, we can all look forward to an era of massive breeches in the planning laws as intended, the end of the Green Belt, a mockery of the Secretary of State's Article 4, and the rule of greedy and disingenuous developers ruining our landscape to line their pockets behind a facade of farming.
