Thank you Robert. It's a profound insight into modern life and workplace.
I especially liked the "do not Google yourself." I've seen and heard of so many people who do this as a sort of automatic response, some do it regularly, perhaps daily.
I suppose most of that type of task in the list, is related to our need for validation; to be heard, noticed and recognised for who we are and what we do/have done.
We seldom had the need on this level, (narcissists excepted,) when friends, colleagues and customers meant a form of face to face connection, and I don't mean Facebook. Dinner around the table being reserved for special occasions for example, as families SMS or Twitter one another instead.
I wonder, does this mean that the internet age has created a far less effective human race? All hyperbole and shallow justification, as opposed to depth and quality? Are we all turning into unproductive narcissists, instead of gifted craftsmen/women?
Add to to "Not To Do List": - don't mention Facebook or Twitter - don't watch lousy business programmes on TV - don't get taken in by smoke, mirrors and snake oil
A crafty little comment (in the nicest possible way). Just fell upon it but your point is well-heard bearing in mind the latest blog comments re Twitter...
